Alice Springs to Birdsville (via Madigan Line)

While many people head to the Red Centre to experience Uluru, some of the most thrilling 4WD routes are found here. Picking up from Alice Springs, this 13-day road trip will take to Birdsville via the Madigan Line. The "Madigan Camps" are markers on the Madigan Line, a route through the Simpson Desert in Australia, that indicate the locations where explorer Cecil Madigan camped during his 1939 expedition. These camps are often marked by plaques on star pickets, serving as navigational aids for those following Madigan's route. Follow on to get inspiration on your next 4WD road trip.
