Safety considerations when exploring Australia during spring
Spring in Australia is from September until November. Having said that, in a country as big as Australia, the climate can vary considerably from one end of the country to the other.
If you’re travelling around the north of the country, including the Northern Territory, temperatures can still reach well over 30°C in spring. This means you need to think about what you’ll pack to make sure you’re well prepared. Items on your packing list should include:
-
Sunblock (SPF30 or higher)
-
Chapstick and/or zinc
-
Wide-brimmed sun hat
-
Sunglasses
-
Water bottle
Another consideration over spring is the extra pollen that is often in the air. Remember to pack antihistamines if you’re affected by hay fever.
Now that you’ve got your campervan packing list started, let’s explore Australia’s springtime gems.
Esperance, Western Australia
With its white sands and turquoise waters, Esperance is a must-do for your spring Australian road trip. The cooler days are ideal for hiking and walks, and when the days are hotter, park your campervan at the beach and test the water! Spring is also the time of year when wildflowers burst into life, so plan to explore some of the region’s national parks or take the Esperance Wildflower Trail. Another top spot to explore is the Esperance Stonehenge, a full-size replica of the UK original.
To explore Esperance, pick up your campervan from our Britz Perth branch and travel 693 km (approx. 7.5 hours) via National Route 1.
Canberra, New South Wales
Warm weather, oodles of sunshine, and flowers in bloom… Canberra has a lot to love in springtime! Canberra also has some great spring festivals on offer including Floriade and the Nara Candle Festival.
